When a new genre of music from the London underground caught my ear for its exciting fusion of influences, I decided to start a monthly club night and bring the pioneers of the sound here to New York from London to perform. Started in 2005, Dub War became the first dubstep night in the country, receiving press coverage in the New York Times, Rolling Stone, Artforum, and New York Magazine. Dub War became an internationally recognized brand at the cutting edge of this new form of music, and its growth involved a coordinated use of social media, PR, marketing, creative direction, and copywriting to help it reach a global audience connected by a shared love of underground electronic music. The event ran monthly for 5 years.
